HOW TO TRANSFER MOVIE FROM CAMCORDER TO PC
If we know the steps to transfer a movie from camcoder or TV to computer /
PC, it will not very difficult to do that. We just have to follow some steps
and also have the proper device. Before actually trying to capture video, it
is very important to learn how to properly do it and check that all the necessary
elements are present.
There are several main devices and elements you must make sure to have in order
to be able to capture video. The main devices you will need are a capture card,
a Codec, a card with video-in or a card with TV-in depending on which source
you will capture the video from.
Once you have all what you need to capture video, the first thing you should
do is to install the Codec. There are many different Codec options from which
you would have to choose, some of them are the Huffyuv Codec, the VirtualDub
and the Pic Video MJPEG Codec.
In case you wish to capture video from your TV, you should select the proper
channel and then exit the TV application. After that, you should select Capture
AVI from the File menu. Once you have done this, the capturing will start automatically
until you exit it.
If you are capturing video from a source such as a svhs, you should choose
that option in the source area from the video menu. You must also specify the
format, which should be: in case it is a DVD, 720 x 576 in PAL and 720 x 480
in NTSC; in case of a SVCD, 480 x 576 in PAL and 480 x 480 for NTSC; and in
case of a VCD, 352 x 288 in PAL and 352 x 240 for NTSC.
In order to select the video quality you wish, you must look for that option
at the MJPEG settings. If you wish a very good quality, you could achieve that
by selecting quality 20, but you should always have in mind that good quality
implies a higher amount of space in the disk and therefore you should choose
an option which considers this factor as well. (by Jakob Jelling / Snapjunky.com)
